There are numerous opportunities for fellowship and enrichment at Neshoba Church. To help you find your way to them, here is some brief information on several of groups that always welcome new people. Contact the people listed through the church office for more information. If you have an idea for a group that you don‘t see at Neshoba, give Reverend Bill a ring and we‘ll try to make it happen.

The Neshoba Choir rehearses from 9:45 – 10:45 most Sunday mornings and is open to all. Joining the choir not only adds so much to our worship life, but it is a great way to meet people. Contact Dave Orland, our Director of Music, or any choir member for more information.

The Adult Discussion Forum meets at 10 a.m. on the first and third Sundays of the month. The Forum discusses a wide-ranging span of topics, and always welcomes new voices in the conversation.  Contact Dan Ellis for more information.

Our Community Potluck is held after worship on the second Sunday of each month. Everyone is invited to bring a dish to share and stay after church for lunch. Reconnect with old friends or sit with someone new to expand your circle of fellowship.

Circle Suppers are held monthly, usually in the homes of various members. Sign up on the "Activities" board across from the church office, let us know what you‘d like to bring to dinner, and you‘ll be contacted close to the date with your location. Circle Suppers are very casual, very friendly, very welcoming of newcomers, and very good ways to get to know more people in the congregation. Contact Trish MacCabe for more information.

UUWOW stands for Unitarian Universalist Women of Wisdom and is a fellowship and enrichment group for women 50 and older. The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month in various locations. A typical meeting consists of dinner and a program. Contact Elizabeth Upchurch for the latest meeting location and program topic.

UUPOW stands for Unitarian Universalist Powerful Outstanding Women. UUPOW is similar to UUWOW, but is for women under 50. The group meets on the first Friday of each month in various locations. Contact Kariann Holland for the latest meeting location.

The Men’s Group meets on the first Wednesday of each month at various locations. The group usually has dinner and then discusses a topic that the group has selected. Visitors are very welcome. Please contact Steve Hiss for the latest meeting location and topic.

The Book Club loves books, loves discussing them, and loves welcoming visitors. The Book Club meets on the second Thursday of each month for a casual potluck meal and to discuss their latest great (or not-so-great) read.  Contact Alex Perry for the current book and more information.

Please bring a dish to share, if you can, although this is not necessary. In fact, you don't really even have to read the book! The selection for May will be "Jitterbug Perfume" by Tom Robbins.

Adult Education Series’ occur throughout the year on many different topics (spiritual growth, world religions, Unitarian Universalist history, etc.) They are typically held on weeknights at church. Keep an eye on the newsletter for the next offering.  Registration is typically required, but visitors are always welcome to register. A copy of this information is available as a bulletin in the foyer to the left of the front doors.

Neshoba’s Adult RE offering for April will be Bridging Church and Home: How Parents and Caregivers can be Spiritual Guides for their Children. Sessions will be offered on Tuesdays April 6th and 13th at 7pm at Neshoba. There is no cost for these sessions, but please RSVP to aDRE, Sarah Osborne at
sarahbeth476@hotmail.com or 901-849-9696. Childcare will be provided.

NeshobaTalks is an "unofficial" online discussion group available to Neshoba members, friends, and others interested in sharing info & opinions about topics of interest to our community. It’s a great way to share opinions, get feedback on questions & ideas, and get to know others in the group. If you’re not already a member, the easiest and fastest way to join is to send a blank email to NeshobaTalks-subscribe@yahoogroups.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Please send from the email address you wish to use when participating – that’s the address that will be automatically added to the group.

Moderator Tim Gatewood monitors the list to prevent “spammers and other evil-doers” from gaining access to the list, so your first 1-2 postings will be routed to him for approval before appearing on the list. Once he’s recognized you as a “friendly”, however, your messages will go up as soon as you post them.

September 5th - Into the Wilderness with Backpack and Moral Compass, Reverend Cynthia Prescott

The economic downturn affected all Unitarian Universalists as it did everyone else. We’ve endured the same loses; but as the dust settles, and life starts getting back to “normal” (whatever that is) we’re freer than ever to choose the future we say we’ve always wanted – one in which human values rise to the top of the priority list.
